WVU lineman Marcell Lazard no longer with the team

Chris Anderson, 247 Sports, reports that Marcell Lazard, offensive tackle, is no longer with the team. He missed the first four practices to start the spring and the team confirmed on Tuesday that he is not on the roster. He is set to graduate in May and will be eligible to transfer and play in 2017.

WVU's baseball game at Penn State postponed

Due to a cold front coming into the Central Pennsylvania area, the WVU-Penn State game originally scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed. The make-up date will be announced within the next few weeks. The Mountaineers and Nittany Lions are still scheduled to play each other in Morgantown on Tuesday, May 9.

Former WVU QB Geno Smith signs with the New York Giants

Geno Smith, former quarterback for WVU and the New York Jets has signed a one year, $2 million dollar contract with the New York Giants. He will likely battle former University of San Diego quarterback Josh Johnson for the backup role behind Eli Manning. Smith tore his ACL in the Jets' game against the Ravens on October 26, 2016. Ian Rapoprt also reported back in February that Smith was at "full-go" for training camp. Giants training camp will start in late July at Quest Diagnostics Training in East Rutherford, N.J.

WVU-Gonzaga time and TV anounced

WVU will take on Gonzaga in the NCAA West Regional Semifinal at 7:39 PM ET on TBS in the SAP Center in San Jose. The winner will play the winner of the Arizona-Xavier game (which will immediately follow)

WVU Baseball drops series finale at No. 10 Baylor, 5-1

The WVU baseball team (10-8, 2-1 Big 12) dropped the series finale at No. 10 Baylor (16-4, 1-2 Big 12), 5-1. A full recap will be available on wvusports.com. The Mountaineers close out their 19-game opening road trip at Penn State on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:30 PM ET.

WVU will take on Gonzaga in Sweet 16

Gonzaga beat Northwestern 79-73 on Saturday evening to advance to San Jose. The game will be on Thursday, March 23. Time and TV are to be announced.

WVU wins series against No. 10 Baylor with 6-5 win

The Mountaineers (10-7, 2-0 Big 12) picked up a big series win on the road on Saturday, defeating the 10th-ranked Bears (15-4, 0-2) , 6-5.The team will look to sweep the series tomorrow at noon ET on FCS Central. Full recap of Saturday's game will be available on wvusports.com.

WVU Baseball upsets No. 10 Baylor 7-1

The Mountaineers went on the road to Waco and beat the 10th-ranked Bears in their first game of conference play Friday night in front of a national television audience. West Virginia will resume the series with Baylor tomorrow at 4:00 PM ET and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest+ and Fox College Sports Central.

Dylan Cottrell competes in NCAA Championship

Big 12 Champ Dylan Cottrell starts his NCAA Wrestling Championships weekend today. He is an 8 seed in the 165-pound weight bracket. Jacob A. Smith will not compete this weekend after suffering a lower leg injury in the final of the 197-pound class at Big 12 championships.
