WVU will kickoff 2028 season against Tennessee in Charlotte

The Charlotte Sports Foundation has announced that West Virginia will play Tennessee in the 2028 Duke’s Mayo Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is the second regular season matchup in Charlotte between the Mountaineers and the Volunteers. The two teams played at Bank of America Stadium in September of 2018 in front of 66,793 fans, and WVU won the game 40-14. It was the first and only time the two schools have faced off on the gridiron. The Mountaineers will be designated as the home team for this game.

West Virginia football coach Neal Brown was a guest on “MetroNews Talkline” on Monday morning and said that spring practice had particularly great value considering his team missed all but two spring workouts last season due to the pandemic.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jacob Watters of the West Virginia baseball team has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List. The Rocky Gap, Virginia, native is 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA in 11 appearances for the Mountaineers this season.

WVU seeking upset in series against No. 5 TCU

The West Virginia baseball team enters this weekend’s matchup against #5 TCU reeling, after losing four straight conference series. WVU has struggled since it began conference play in late March, as it has only won one series against a Big 12 opponent.

Golf completes play at Big 12 Championship

The Cowboys finished +9 at the 6,947-yard, par-70 Prairie Dunes Country Club to earn the Big 12’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship.

Big 12 Tennis All-Tournament Teams Announced

The 2021 Big 12 Tennis Championship All-Tournament team has been announced. Baylor headlined the men’s team with five selections, while Texas led the women’s team with four.

The NCAA’s first-time transfer exemption is now officially official. Following an announcement from the Division I Board of Directors, this rule, which allows student-athletes to compete immediately after their first transfer to another school, now applies to all athletes in all sports.

LSU to allow full stadiums, removes mask mandate for outdoor sporting events

LSU is removing attendance limitations and its mask mandate for all outdoor athletic activities. That means that the Tigers could seat as many as 102,321 fans during home football games. Normal tailgating activities on campus were also cleared to resume.
