As first reported by Mike Casazza at EerSports.com, West Virginia cornerback David Vincent-Okoli, a four-star recruit and the prize of the 2020 recruiting class, has left the program. Okoli redshirted last year and did not see the field at all but the loss of cornerback Dreshun Miller opened a spot for Okoli to shine and impress the coaches.

The top-rated recruit in West Virginia’s 2020 recruiting class and a top-25 player nationally at his position is no longer with the program. A team spokesperson Monday told EerSports that David Vincent-Okoli has left the team. He was not present at Saturday’s practice, the majority of which was open to the media.

The loss of Okoli is the third player in the last week for a program that is currently hemorrhaging players. DVO makes the 17th player to leave the program since the 2020 season began and the 10th since the end of the season and the third player who was expected to make an impact on the team.

Okoli also marks a huge loss for Brown, as previous players were holdovers or young players from the previous coaching staff that Brown and his coaches did not recruit. Okoli is not a part of that list.
