West Virginia University Sports Hall of Famer and the founder of the Mountaineer women’s basketball program, Kittie Blakemore has passed away. Blakemore launched the program in 1973 and spent 19 seasons leading the team to over 300 wins.

Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

The West Virginia women’s tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the seventh consecutive year. In addition to the team’s accolade, four Mountaineers were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2020 season. Juniors Giovanna Caputo and Anne-Sophie Courteau, as well as sophomores Anastasiia Bovolskaia and Nicole Roc were recognized.

Report: Giants place David Sills on reserve/COVID-19 list

New York Giant and former West Virginia wide receiver David Sills V has been placed on the reserves/COVID-19 list. Sills is the first Giant to be placed on the newly created list, which indicates he either tested positive or was in contact with someone who had tested positive.

Former Running Back Signs With Steelers

Former West Virginia running back Wendell Smallwood has signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Smallwood, a fifth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016, won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2017 and signed with the Washington Redskins in 2019.

ACC sets 11-game fall football schedule, includes Notre Dame

The ACC board of directors voted Wednesday to proceed with an 11-game football season that begins the weekend of September 12th. FBS independent Notre Dame will also be joining the conference for this season and will play a full league schedule. All ACC schools and Notre Dame will play 10 conference games plus one nonconference game that must take place in the home state of the ACC institution.
