Big man number 56 Darius Stills headlines the 2020 Athlon Sports All Big 12 First Team for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Stills, entering his senior season, will be the stalwart on the defensive line for Vic Koenning and the Mountaineers. He has seen increased playing time from his freshman season in 2017 through his junior season in 2019 where he started all 12 games. Last season, Darius was a machine on the line, collecting 46 tackles to go with 7 sacks and a forced fumble. Combined with his brother Dante, they form one of the more dominating pairs of defensive tackles in the Big 12.
Darius’ best game last year was a 3 sack performance against the Baylor Bears on primetime. The Mountaineers would lose 17-14 but Stills’ performance kept them in the game all night long as he harrassed Charlie Brewer and the Bears offense.
Stills will be joined by his brother, Dante, who was named a 2nd team All Big 12 performer and Sam James as a 2nd team wide receiver.
Offensive lineman James Gmiter, linebacker Josh Chandler and safety Tykee Smith were named to the third team.
