This assignment means WVU loses its only night game this season and every home game in 2020 will be played in the noon slot.
WVU was originally scheduled to host OU on Thanksgiving Saturday but a COVID-19 outbreak within the Sooners postponed the game.
Saturday is Senior Day in Morgantown and 20 seniors will be honored. That said, the NCAA has given every athlete a “free” year of eligibility for the 2020 season, so some of these gentlemen may return for 2021.
The Mountaineers (5-4, 4-4) lost at Iowa State 42-6 on Saturday. The Sooners (7-2,6-2) defeated Baylor 27-14 at home.
With the win, OU locked in a spot in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday, Dec. 19, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
WVU is just 2-10 against OU in its history. Those two wins are prior to the Big 12 era of Mountaineer football. Since joining the Big 12, the Mountaineers have been competitive in some games but the average margin of Sooner victory is 17.375 points.
Last year was the worst defeat to OU, a 52-14 loss in Norman in Neal Brown’s first year in charge of the program.
