Where are they from? Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

Phil Humnicky/Georgetown Univ.

Series History: West Virginia and Georgetown will meet for the 53rd time in all-time series play that began in 1921-22. Georgetown leads the series, 27-25. The last meeting took place at Georgetown in the first round of the 2014 NIT with the Hoyas winning, 77-65. That game was played at McDonough Arena. West Virginia has won five of the last six meetings in the series.

Record: 1-1

Record in 2019-20: 15-17 (5-13 Big East)

Head Coach: Patrick Ewing (4th Season)

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Georgetown Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

West Virginia Mountaineers: Emmitt Matthews Jr, Oscar Tshiebwe, Derek Culver, Sean McNeil, and Miles McBride

Georgetown Hoyas: Qudus Wahab, Jamorko Pickett, Donald Carey, Jalen Harris and Jahvon Blair

The Mountaineers bounce back after losing a close one to No. 1 ranked Gonzaga in what will hopefully be a classic, physical Big East basketball game. I don’t know that Georgetown is as competitive under Patrick Ewing as they were under John Thompson (Jr. and III), but we’re still going to have some fun.

West Virginia pulls away late.

West Virginia 78, Georgetown 66
