For the last time in the coronavirus-pandemic filled 2020 season, the West Virginia Mountaineers will wear their state outline flag helmets to honor the troops when they take on the Army Black Knights in the Liberty Bowl. The last time the Mountaineers wore their flag helmets is when they took on the TCU Horned Frogs back in November - a game they won 24-6 and was one of the more complete dominations by the defense.

This will be the third time the Mountaineers have worn the state outline flag helmets and the fourth time they have honored the troops with the American Flag on their helmets. The first time was in 2017 when they wore white helmets with the flying WV but in the American Flag. Last year, in 2019, the Mountaineers wore the state outline helmets for the first time against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The Mountaineers are 2-1 in the American flag-themed helmets.
