West Virginia fans are excited about the direction of both the basketball and football teams. Confidence in both programs is high, according to the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey.

Despite an ugly loss to Iowa State to end the regular season – finishing the year at 5-4, 78 percent of Mountaineers football fans said the team was headed in the right direction. That’s down from 88 percent last week.

While the Mountaineers won’t be competing for a national championship this season, there is still a debate on who deserves the fourth and final College Football Playoff spot. Fans were asked what team they think should join Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson.

According to the results, nearly 50 percent of fans around the country believe that team should be Ohio State. No other team received more than 20 percent of the vote.

Hopes are still high for West Virginia on the basketball court. The team has raced out to a 4-1 start including a win over Georgetown. With the fast start, confidence in the program remained steady at 94 percent for the second week in a row.

West Virginia will have an extremely difficult run through the Big 12 this season. However, according to fans nationally, the ACC is the best conference in the country, followed by the Big Ten.
