The West Virginia Mountaineers will wear their reverse traditional uniforms, wearing gold helmets and jerseys with blue pants. They’ve only worn this combination one other time, and it was also against the Kansas State Wildcats.
The Mountaineers will attempt to keep their four-game winning streak against the Wildcats going in the same uniform that kicked off the winning streak. When the Mountaineers first debuted in the Big 12, the loss to the Wildcats was perhaps one of the most demoralizing. The Mountaineers were absolutely hapless against Colin Klein and the power-run, ball-control wizardry of Bill Snyder.
Slowly the Mountaineers would close the gap against the Wildcats, each year losing by a closer and closer margin. The tides then turned in 2016 when the Mountaineers wore out the Wildcats with their own power-run scheme. Since that 2016 run, the Mountaineers have slowly pulled away, to the point that the 2018 game was a 35-6 laugher. Last year, the Mountaineers surprised the ‘Cats with Jarret Doege as the starter and pulled off a 24-20 upset.
