Big 12 Drops Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Schedules

Anticipation for the 2020 West Virginia basketball season—the 50th played at the WVU Coliseum—increased Monday when the Big 12 dropped the men’s and women’s basketball conference schedules. Exact times and broadcast information have not been determined.

Big 12 play will start in December 2020 for both teams. The women opensthe Big 12 season with a mega-showdown on Thursday, Dec. 10, as Baylor comes to the WVU Coliseum. The men’s team hosts Iowa State on Friday, Dec. 18, in its conference opener.

Both teams will finish their seasons in the last week of February the women will travel to Iowa State on Wednesday, Feb. 24, and the men will host Kansas State on Saturday, Feb. 27.

WVU women’s basketball used a cool two-sided record graphic to announce its schedule. These are the only games scheduled fo the team in the 2020-21 season, due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is unclear if the Big 12/SEC Women’s Challenge will be played this season, but WVU was slated to host Tenessee.

The men are set to play in the Bad Bow Mowers Crossover Classic (an awesome name) over Thanksgiving week in Sioux Fall, South Dakota. They will play Texas A&M to open the tournament.

Both the men’s and women’s Big 12 Championship tournaments will be played in Kansas City, Missouri, over the same week in March. The men will play March 10-13 at the Sprint Center and the women will play March 11-14 at Municipal Auditorium.
