Escaping the desert heat, Arizona transfer Tony Fields has made an impact at WVU

West Virginia’s leading tackler in each of their first two games was not on the Mountaineer roster through most of the offseason. Tony Fields II has made an immediate impact on the WVU defense after transferring into the program from Arizona in August. In WVU’s season-opening win over Eastern Kentucky, Fields led the team with 10 tackles. He also had nine tackles this past week against Oklahoma State.

Baylor game will test WVU’s ability to improve and adjust after loss at OSU

Three days after the Mountaineers’ 27-13 loss at Oklahoma State, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown balanced the obvious disappointment of a lost opportunity with the need to move on to face a Baylor team that dominated Kansas 47-14 in their opener. Brown also noted that the Mountaineers have to avoid mental mistakes, such as turnovers, which may have cost them the game against the Cowboys.

WVU athletic official says plan for fans was carefully put together

West Virginia Athletic Department officials are confident in their plan to allow the return of fans at Milan Puskar Stadium this fall. WVU made the announcement for fans on Monday and indicated that the cap of 15,000 fans in attendance is expected to be in place for the remainder of the 2020 season.

Women’s soccer ranked No. 7 in national poll

West Virginia women’s soccer is still in the top ten after suffering a tough loss on the road to Oklahoma State. The Mountaineers are now 2-1 and sitting at #7 in their second week in the rankings. WVU fell three spots from #4 after taking a loss in overtime at Oklahoma State, who was ranked #6 at the time and is now at #4.

WVU Plays Host to K-State in Home Opener

The West Virginia volleyball team returns to Morgantown to play host to Kansas State in the 2020 home opener today. The match will air live on ESPNU. Friday’s match against the Wildcats will be carried live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

WVU golf finishes ninth in opening tournament of the season

The West Virginia golf team opened up its fall season with a disappointing third round this week at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. The Mountaineers tied for ninth place this morning after going 20 over-par on the last day of the tournament.
