Austin Kendall led West Virginia to a win over James Madison in his first game as the WVU quarterback. While Kendall had a solid performance with 260 yards, two touchdowns, and zero turnovers, there is still room for improvement. What did you think of Kendall’s WVU debut?

The Mountaineers saw success in some areas in Saturday’s home opener against JMU, and they also saw areas where there needs to be improvement. Some of the better aspects of the game included WVU’s special teams, Kwantel Raines’ forced fumble, and George Campbell’s first touchdown. The Mountaineers had shortcomings in the passing game and on the offensive line.

West Virginia’s second game of the season, at Missouri, will be nationally televised on ESPN2. The Tigers lost their season opener to Wyoming, and WVU will face them at noon this Saturday.
Brown: Mountaineer Run Game Has to Improve | West Virginia University Athletics
The West Virginia offense gained only 34 rushing yards in the season opener against JMU. WVU head coach Neal Brown stated the obvious during Monday’s Big 12 coaches’ teleconference, the Mountaineers’ running game has to get better. The main source of WVU’s struggles offensively came from the offensive line.

Bridges opts to stay home with commitment to West Virginia | WV MetroNews
Fairmont native Jalen Bridges has committed to the West Virginia men’s basketball team. It is believed that Bridges will redshirt this season and begin playing for the Mountaineers in the 2020-21 season.

Mountaineers Sweep Bearcats at Delaware Classic | West Virginia University Athletics
The West Virginia volleyball team is now 3-0 after winning all three of its matchups at the 2019 Delaware Classic. The Mountaineers won the Delaware Classic by defeating the host team, Delaware, as well as Coppin State and Binghamton.
WVU Downs Monmouth in Season Opener | West Virginia University Athletics
The #23 West Virginia men’s soccer team won its season opener at Monmouth, 1-0, on Friday. The Mountaineers’ lone goal was made by senior forward Ethan Shim in the second half, and it was assisted by junior defender Kevin Morris.
WVU Takes Third at Lehigh | West Virginia University Athletics
The West Virginia women’s cross country team finished in third at the Lehigh Invitational last week. Redshirt senior Olivia Hill finished second and redshirt sophomore Marianne Abdalah finished fourth.
Women’s soccer falls at Virginia | WV Illustrated
The #12 West Virginia women’s soccer team suffered its second loss of the season to #6 Virginia over the holiday weekend. The Mountaineers went down 4-1 on the road and this was WVU’s second loss to a top ten team this season.

Jalen Hurts’s Oklahoma Debut Was Somehow Better Than Expected | Sports Illustrated
Quarterback Jalen Hurts did not disappoint is his debut at Oklahoma. The Heisman contended had 332 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, 176 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns in OU’s 49-31 victory over Dana Holgorsen’s Houston team.
‘I suspect he’ll give us some Pooka plays’: Kansas RB returning ‘without limitation’ | KU Sports
Kansas running back Pooka Williams Jr. will be returning from suspension this week and head coach Les Miles is ready to have him back in the offense when KU takes on Coastal Carolina. Williams had 1,125 rushing yards last season and earned First Team All-Big 12 honors.
Two KU football players recently arrested for separate matters | The Kansas City Star
The Kansas Jayhawks had some issues off the field this weekend, as two members of the KU football team were arrested. Senior safety Shaq Richmond was arrested for failure to appear and, sophomore linebacker Tom Barrett was arrested for suspicion of contributing to a child’s misconduct and displaying or possessing a fictitious ID.
