LOOK: West Virginia Basketball Teams Drop New Uniforms

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will sport a cohesive look for the 2019-2020 seasons.

NCAA Basketball Tournament - East Regional - Boston

To celebrate College Colors Day, the West Virginia men’s and women’s basketball teams unveiled their new uniforms for the 2019-2020 seasons. Both teams will don a consistent look, including four options.

The teams will have blue, gold, white and gray uniforms, with two distinct styles. The gold and blue sets feature “WEST VIRGINIA” across the top of the chest while the white and gray show off the Flying WV.

Most notable, the new font being used across the athletic department. This isn’t really a surprise, but it’s the first thing that jumps off the jersey.

In a switch up from the previous white uniforms, the numbers will be blue with gold trim, making it easier for everyone to read. The blue number with gold trim are also set against the gray uniforms. The gold and blue opposing have their alternating colors for the numbers, with no trim.

The gold, white and gray uniforms feature blue swatches on the shoulders to correspond with flared blue stripes on the shorts and the number colors. There is a gold accent to the swatch on the white and gray tops. The blue uniforms have a gold swatch on the tops with gold on the shorts.

This new look on the players completes a refresh for Mountaineer basketball, as the WVU Coliseum court was refinished and repainted this summer. A common theme between the uniforms and court is the new typeface prominently displayed.

WVU men’s basketball begins the 2019-2020 season on Friday, Nov. 8, at home against Akron. WVU women’s basketball opens play with an exhibition against Salem on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
