The SB Nation FanPulse Preseason Top 25 is out and, to the surprise of no one, the Clemson Tigers will enter the season as the nation’s top team, according to a voting block made up of fans here at The Smoking Musket and others across 65 of SB Nation’s college football communities.

The rest of the poll lines up pretty evenly with what we saw in the preseason Coaches Poll, with the exception of the Miami Hurricanes sliding in at No. 22 — seven spots up from their position in the Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes made headlines this week when new head coach Manny Diaz named redshirt freshman Jarren Williams the starting quarterback over Ohio State transfer and noted Chipotle enthusiast Tate Martell and N’Kosi Perry, a redshirt sophomore that played in 11 games for the Canes last season. Fans over at The State of the U unsurprisingly ranked Miami the highest of any community, with the Hurricanes coming in at No. 18 in their community specific ballot.

The West Virginia Mountaineers are nowhere to be found in the top 25 or among the list of teams receiving votes. The Mountaineers are facing some quarterback controversy of their own, as we’ve yet to receive any update from head coach Neal Brown about who he’ll have lining up under center when West Virginia takes on James Madison in just 17 days.

If you’ve not yet signed up to participate in the SB Nation FanPulse, it’s not too late. SIGN UP HERE to join us.

If you sign up, you will be among a vetted group from The Smoking Musket who answers a weekly survey developed by SB Nation. The survey will start going out regularly once the season begins, and will be highlighted by a weekly Top 25 ranking by Mountaineer fans. This is something that should take at most a few minutes a week to participate in.

We want to build the definitive Top 25 of informed college football fans, and that includes you. Your votes will be anonymous — though if you join, you are welcome (and encouraged!) to tell anyone you like. You’ll get to have your voice heard about whether ‘Bama is overrated or they’re not giving your team enough credit in the AP Poll week to week.

The results of each poll will be published by The Smoking Musket (that’s us!) and may end up on SBNation.com also, along with the results from other team sites.

Others receiving votes: Washington State, Syracuse, Boise State, Stanford, Army, Virginia, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Minnesota.
