Heading into his first season as the head coach at West Virginia, Neal Brown is not only making efforts to recruit in the Mountain State, he has also been gaining commitments from European athletes. Brown has been able to find these European players through connections with a German based scouting service. WVU has gained a commitment from Jairo Faverus, a defensive back who is playing in England. Although Faverus is playing in England, he is from the Netherlands. Swedish tight end Viktor Wikstrom has also committed to the Mountaineers.
Coach Brown is also working on clearing up scholarship details for the 2019 recruiting class. He eluded to the possibility of some signees not being a part of the recruiting class when fall camp begins. WVU is also working on receiving waivers for transfers to play immediately this season.

WVU tight end Jovanni Haskins will have big shoes to fill after the departure of Trevon Wesco. Many expect that the redshirt junior is up to the challenge since he has been named to the 2019 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List. Haskins had 148 yards and one touchdown last season.
WVU wide receiver T.J. Simmons became a father last weekend. Simmons now has a daughter named Lielani Neveah Jo. Luckily, he got to learn about how to be a father while also being a college athlete from his former teammate Will Grier last year. Simmons now believes that his goal to get to the NFL is even more important now, so he can provide for his daughter.
Mountaineer offensive lineman Colton McKivitz is featured on the cover of the Athlon Sports Big 12 season preview magazine. McKivitz, a redshirt senior, was pleasantly surprised by the magazine cover and his family was even more excited.
