According to a report from 247Sports’ Chris Anderson, WVU safety Derrek Pitts has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. That makes two starting safeties in two days for the Mountaineers, leading everyone to question, what is going on with the WVU football program?

Is there a rampant case of academic dishonesty occurring in the classrooms at WVU? Are these student-athletes in some sort of other trouble? It’s not clear, and may never be clear, as WVU policies make it difficult to find out the answers to these questions.

Pitts came to WVU as a 4-star prospect at cornerback, but switched to safety early on his freshman year to find playing time. He was projected to start opposite Kenny Robinson, who notified the program yesterday that he was leaving. It’s really not clear who will now fill those positions for the Mountaineers in 2019.

Next man up!
