The West Virginia Mountaineers stole a recruit from the Virginia Tech Hokies when Lanell Carr committed to the Mountaineers on Sunday. Carr was in Morgantown this weekend for an official visit and came away so impressed he committed today. Carr is rated as a three-star according to 247’s Composite. Here is what Chris Anderson of EerSports.com had to say
Carr emerged on the Mountaineers’ radar thanks to connections made by defensive coordinator Vic Koenning. Eventually, Koenning made a move with an offer early in the spring, and followed that with a visit during the spring evaluation period.
”He said I was a dog and he liked my physical (style) of play and loved my pass rushing ability,” said Carr. “I am familiar with them. I think they are very disciplined on defense, and very physical. It’s my style of play.”
Carr had offers from West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland Terrapins, Arkansas Razorbacks and others. Stay tuned as it looks like there may be more commits today.
