West Virginia Mountaineers linebacker David Long Jr’s decision to forego his senior year in Morgantown paid off this evening when the Tennessee Titans selected Long with the 15th pick in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL Draft (No. 188 overall).

The 2018 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year declared for the Draft on December 30th, after weighing his options. The biggest knock on Long from NFL scouts was his height, and another season in college wasn’t going to change that.

Long racked up 111 total tackles (19 TFL) as a junior for the Mountaineers, closing out his three year collegiate career with 250 total tackles, 40 TFL and 1 forced fumble.

The Smoking Musket will have additional analysis of Long’s NFL destination, as well as other Mountaineers to be selected in the 2019 NFL Draft as the weekend continues.
