West Virginia Mountaineers head coach Neal Brown has wasted no time jumping into the 2020 recruiting season with his first commitment. Kentucky wide receiver Reese Smith committed to the Mountaineers and his commitment had both inside receivers coach Travis Trickett and outside receivers coach Xavier Dye tweeting “LETS GOOO” prior to the official announcement.
Smith is a bit undersized, measuring in under 6’-0” but Brown has a way of making his receivers productive. Despite his size, Smith has impressive leap, able to dunk a basketball as shown in his highlight video. He also tracks the ball well over his shoulder. Smith shows good speed, separating from cornerbacks easily. He also uses this receiver knowledge in high school, playing defensive back where he picked off 9 passes as a sophomore.
