The West Virginia Mountaineers (13-7) scored a boatload of runs today as they won 14-1 over the rebuilding Youngstown State Penguins (1-18).

Freshman shortstop Tevin Tucker had himself a ballgame today: 2/3, 1 double, 1 home run, 1 walk, 4 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. Coach Mazey has been very high on Tucker, evidenced by the fact that the freshman has started all 20 games so far. You can find the full box score here.

Nick Snyder, the midweek starter for the Mountaineers, had another great outing. He threw 4.0 shutout innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 4. The junior right hander improved his record to 3-1 on the young season, and he’ll look for his 4th win against the Marshall Thundering Herd next Wednesday.

It’s time for Big XII play! The Mountaineers will head out to Waco, Texas this weekend to take on the Baylor Bears (13-5). Currently sitting in 8th place in the Big XII, WVU will face a tough test against the 4th place Bears. Check back in on Friday for a series preview. Let’s go, Mountaineers!
