The WVU Athletic Department announced on Monday morning that the WVU baseball team would be adding a home game to their schedule tomorrow vs. Canisius College. This game will serve as the Mountaineers home opener and is slated to start at 2PM - admission is free due to the late announcement of the game.

This game comes nearly 3 weeks before the Mountaineers were originally scheduled to open their season in Morgantown. The temperature at first pitch is expected to be in the mid-30’s, so be sure to wrap yourself up before coming into the stadium!

Canisius (1-2) opened their season with a series loss to N.C Central this past weekend, getting outscored 17-10 including a 9-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon. Here are some players to look out for on the Golden Griffins:

It’s unclear who will start this game for the Mountaineers, but my guess is that freshman RHP Daniel Ouderkirk or junior LHP Nick Snyder get the ball from Coach Mazey. I’ll update this story when WVU Baseball makes an official announcement.

WVU would do well to win this game and get their record back to .500 before heading down to Georgia again this coming weekend when they open a 3-game series against Georgia Southern University. Last year, the Mountaineers won 3 of 4 against the Golden Griffins here in Morgantown.

Hope to see you at the ballpark! Let’s go, Mountaineers!
