Austin Kendall Remains Starter As Mountaineers Struggle Through First Half

The first half of the game for the West Virginia Mountaineers could not have gone any more poorly than it has. The Mountaineers won the toss and kicked off to the Texas Tech Red Raiders who immediately marched down the field and scored a touchdown. The ensuing drive saw the Mountaineers hit a deep pass for the first time as Austin Kendall launched a 50-yard throw to George Campbell but then the offense struggled in the red zone and the Mountaineers were forced to kick a field goal.

Texas Tech with score again when Austin Kendall threw an interception. The throw itself was tipped but once again it undermines the entire season when a better throw would not have led to a tip pass. As Texas Tech remain hot the Mountaineers could not get out of their own way finding themselves continually going three-and-out or having to go for it on 4th down just to sustain drives.

If you expected coach Neal Brown to have a short leash for his starting quarterback that has not been the case so far as Jarret Doege has not seen the field despite the fact that it took to trick play for the Mountaineers to actually score a touchdown.

We will see if Coach Brown makes a change at half-time but fans are very disappointed to see that so far it has been the Austin Kendall show and the offense remains as stagnant inept as it has been all season.
