Neal Brown has announced that quarterback Jack Allison will graduate in December and has decided to transfer. Allison transferred to the West Virginia Mountaineers from the Miami Hurricanes when it became apparent that the ‘Canes were heading toward a more dual threat role for the quarterbacks.
Allison appeared to be the perfect fit for Dana Holgorsen’s Air Raid system and when he threw a touchdown against Baylor in 2018, it looked like Allison might be the next signal caller for the Old Gold and Blue.
Unfortunately for Allison, he performed poorly in the bowl game and despite a plan to “fix” him, Allison has now shown the improvement necessary. He lost the starting position to Austin Kendall, who has yet to relinquish the position.
Allison has played in two games this season, throwing two passes against the Missouri Tigers and he played nearly a fully game against the Iowa St. Cyclones. Against the Cyclones, he finished 18 for 24 for 140 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
Trey Lowe and Jarret Doege will backup starter Austin Kendall for now.
Goodbye sweet prince
