GAME NOTES
- This is WVU’s third trip outside the United States and Puerto Rico. The Mountaineers were runners up in the Cancun Challenge in 2013. WVU opened its 2017 season in Ramstein, Germany, against Texas A&M in the Armed Forces Classic.
- WVU is 268-177 all-time in tournaments. WVU’s most recent tournament championship was the AdvoCare Invitational in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, in 2017. WVU won the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in 2014 and Las Vegas Classic in 2011.
- This will be the first meeting between the West Virginia Mountaineers and Northern Iowa Panthers. West Virginia is 5-5 all-time against teams from the Missouri Valley Conference: 2-3 vs. Bradley, 0-1 vs. Illinois State, 1-0 vs. Missouri State, 1-0 vs. Southern Illinois and 1-1 against Valparaiso. Bob Huggins is 1-0 all-time against Northern Iowa. On Nov. 24, 2004, Cincinnati defeated Northern Iowa, 76-70, in double overtime.
- The Mountaineers own a 1,775-1,100 all-time record in intercollegiate basketball competition, ranking the Mountaineers 22nd in wins among all Division I schools.
