Neal Brown has updated the media during his press conference that Jovanni Stewart has chosen to leave the team.
In a story that first broke at Eersports.com, thanks to Mike Casazza, West Virginia Mountaineers spear linebacker Jovanni Stewart has pulled himself out of Saturday's game against the Texas Longhorns, citing personal reasons. The bigger news is that Stewart is reported to be looking at using his available redshirt and transferring from the team.
Nothing is written in stone and at the time of this story Stewart has not yet entered the transfer portal. If Stewart is done for the year, it would make the fourth defensive player who has left the team this year, including the third starter.
Stewart moved from safety to linebacker last year after a rash of injuries hit the Mountaineers linebacking corp. Stewart made the most of his opportunity and finished the year with 53 tackles.
