The West Virginia Mountaineers will wear their semi-traditional Blue-Gold-Blue uniform set when they take on the Texas Longhorns this Saturday in Neal Brown’s first Big 12 conference game at home. The Mountaineers sport a healthy 4-2 record in this set, which debuted first against Towson University all the way back in 2014. Since then, they have worn it at least once a year.
While the Mountaineers will be striped in Blue, Gold, Blue, the stadium will also be striped. The tradition of stadium sections wearing alternating colors of Old Gold and Blue started when the Mountaineers first joined the Big 12 in 2012. In the game against Baylor, Geno Smith, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey played typical Big 12 football, going score for score against the Baylor Bears in an iconic 70-63 affair.
If you are headed to the game, check which section you will be sitting in to know which color you should wear.
Fans sitting in even-numbered sections (Sec. 102, 104, 202, 204, etc.), Touchdown Terrace and WVU students seated in the upper level student sections are encouraged to wear Gold to the game. Fans sitting in odd-numbered sections (Sec. 101, 103, 201, 203, etc.) and WVU students seated in the lower level student sections are encouraged to wear Blue to the game.
