Despite a late lead, turnovers and missed free throws leave Mountaineers just short in their season opener, as they fall to #11 Texas Tech 62-59 to fall to 8-5 (0-1) on the season.
WVU was led by Lamont West’s 22 points. Derek Culver, who continues to show improvement in just his third game added another 12. Culver and West were the only other Mountaineers in double-figures as they shot just 42-percent from the field. But it was the 14 missed free-throws, including six in the second-half, and 22 turnovers that ultimately doomed the Mountaineers.
