Sorry old schoolers, the West Virginia Mountaineers will not wear the traditional uniforms this week despite the 1988 team being in the stadium. The team will swap out gold pants for the clean white pants.
Personally, despite my disappointment over not wearing gold pants for the 1988 team, this combination is my favorite home uniform. On television and in person the white pants contrast beautifully with the blue.
The team has worn this combination five times, winning three games. The first time this combination debuted was against the Iowa St. Cyclones in 2013. The team rebounded to wear this combination when they upset the #4 Baylor Bears in Morgantown in 2014. They then wore it successfully against both Baylor and the TCU Horned Frogs in the ten-win 2016 season.
