Will Grier
Grier and his West Virginia Mountaineers were the unfortunately victims of Hurricane Florence. The schedule matchup between the ‘Eers and the N.C. State Wolfpack was canceled earlier in the week. This game was set to be a matchup of high-profile quarterbacks between Grier and the ‘Packs Ryan Finley, but now it will not be played. For Grier, despite not playing this week, he remains near the top in passing offense.
Season Stats: 761 yards, 9 touchdowns. 229 QB rating
Tua Tagovailoa
The Alabama Crimson Tide scored 28 points in the first quarter in their game against the Ole Miss Rebels and through three quarters scored 59 points, but Tua wasn’t the reason. TT completed 11 of 15 passes for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 5 rushes for 47 yards. Tua could be the victim of his and his team’s success. Alabama is so dynamic with Tua that he isn’t needed to put up a large amount of statistics and if you are going to vote for someone who only throws for 190 yards a game over someone who is throwing for 350+ game, you have one extraordinary argument to make.
Season Stats: 646 yards, 8 touchdowns, 0 INT, 232 QB Rating, 14 rushes, 93 yards
Jonathan Taylor
Taylor saw his Badgers fall to the BYU Cougars as the Badgers missed a field goal in the final minute of the game. For Taylor, he was good but he failed to score a touchdown. for the first time this season. The loss could spell the end of the Badgers bid for a College Football Playoff berth but it does nothing to spoil their bid for a Big Ten bid. The Badgers chose to give senior Taiwan Deal the carriers in short yardage and will be something to watch as the season progresses.
Season Stats: 77 rushes, 515 yards, 5 touchdowns,
Kyler Murray
If Murray hadn’t already, he definitely inserted himself into the Heisman consideration this week against a feisty Iowa St. Cyclones team that hosted the Sooners in Ames, Iowa with an upset on their mind. Murray dazzled completing 21 of 26 passes for 348 yards and 3 touchdowns. Finally tested, Murray showed poise in being able to complete passes when he absolutely had to to keep his team out in front.
Season Stats: 863 yards, 8 touchdowns, 1 interception, 29 rushes, 179 yards.
Dwayne Haskins
Haskins was amazing the first two weeks into the season but when the competition is Oregon State, who’s only win is against Southern Utah, and Rutgers who just got trounced by Kansas, we were not sure how good Haskins was. He answered those questions last night when he took on a Gary Patterson TCU defense and threw for 344 yards and 2 touchdowns to go with a rush touchdown. Haskins looked calm in the neutral site game where he completed 24 of 38 passes and most importantly never threw an interception.
Season Stats: 890 yards, 11 touchdowns, 1 interception, 14 rushes, 23 yards, 1 touchdown
