The Mountaineers Are Playing With New Uniforms

It’s a subtle change but one for the better

Full disclosure, our former site manager Mark Stickel pointed this out to me so I have to give him full credit. I didn’t catch the change until he pointed it out to me. I chose to wait until after the YSU game to write this because I wanted to confirm that it was full gallery change and not a one-off.

Here are the uniforms last year.

Do you spot the difference? The team has removed the underarm colored patch from the uniforms. In my opinion, it gives the uniform a cleaner look. To confirm this was a full removal of the patch, here is the B/B/W combination from 2017 against Texas and against Youngstown State.

And here is the combination from Saturday. You can see the black patch under the arms has been removed which should be a delight to many fans who thought the uniforms looked strange with the patch.

Personally, I’m really looking forward to when the team wears the all-white combination and the Y/W/Y combination because it should be a cleaner, crisper look.
