#Take Me Home ‘19: Georgia Running Back Tony Mathis Commits to West Virginia

Another Georgia commit will give the 2019 class a definite peach flavor.

Tony Mathis

The search for the next great running back may be over now that the Mountaineers have picked up their latest Peach State commit in Tony Mathis. Mathis, a 5’-11”, 195-pound senior from Cedartown High. Mathis has the desired combination of speed and agility. Mathis’ great attribute has to be his “cutability”. Cue the Tavon Austin comparisons and they won’t be totally out of line. Mathis is a talented do-it-all back.

Mathis totaled nearly 2,000 total yards as a junior: over 1,000 yards rushing and over 400 yards receiving and on returns. Mathis is a total package when it comes to being an offensive weapon. Mathis helped his team become an offensive juggernaut; Cedartown scored more points than all but six AAAA teams last season.
