Doug Belk was brought to the Mountaineers to help them gain in-roads to Georgia and the fertile recruiting grounds that are the Peach State. Belk has already lived up to his billing as he has been able to secure several players and he’s done it again with Winston Wright.
Wright will bring championship experience to the Mountaineers as he has already been a part of two championship teams at Memorial Day School in Savannah, Georgia. Wright was a two way star for the Blue Thunder, who won their second straight state 2A championship and their fourth in the past five seasons.
For the Mountaineers, Wright, who stands 5’-11”, expects to play slot receiver for the West Virginia Mountaineers and possibly seeing some time in the backfield.
“I picked West Virginia because I thought it was a place that I could be happy at, even without football,” said Wright, whose final five teams included North Carolina, Illinois, Duke and Central Florida. “I feel like I fit well in their offense and I loved the campus when I made my visit.”
