If you didn’t think college football was right around the corner, this should finally convince you: preseason watch lists for national awards are being released and our three stars find their names on these lists.

Will Grier, who threw for 3,490 yards and 34 touchdowns in 10 games last season, finds his name atop the Maxwell Award Watch list. Joining him is the man who caught 18 of his 34 touchdowns, David Sills. If you didn’t know by now, Sills was once a USC Trojan commit before country roads led him to Morgantown.

The QB-WR pair are the most dangerous duo in college football and it should come as no surprise they will find their name among the leaders in many of the national awards this season. Sills finished second in the Biletnikoff Award last season.

Linebacker David Long, who was a Pro Football Focus 2nd team All American last season, sees himself enter the discussion with the Bednarik Award. The Bednarik, named after Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Chuck Bednarik, grandson to former WVU quarterback Adam Bednarik, who’s injury gave way to the Pat White era. David Long finished last season with 75 tackles last season, despite missing the first four games.
