148 days after the Mountaineers open the season against the Tennessee Volunteers in Charlotte, North Carolina, Bob Huggins and freshly returned Mountaineers Sagaba Konate will head down to Knoxville to take on those same volunteers as part of the Big 12-SEC Challenge.

Tennessee will be the second SEC team the Mountaineers face in the 2018-2019 season. As part of the Jimmy V Classic in December, the Bob Huggins’ squad will face the Florida Gators in New York.

The Big 12/SEC Challenge started in 2013. All ten teams within the Big 12 Conference participate and 10 of the 14 SEC teams participate. Five teams from each conference host home games.

The Mountaineers are a conference worst 1-4 in the Challenge, losing to Missouri in 2013, LSU in 2014, Florida in 2015 and Kentucky in 2017. The sole win for the Mountaineers was against Texas A&M Aggies in 2016-17 when Jevon Carter scored 19 points and had 9 rebounds in a 81-77 win in Morgantown.
