The West Virginia Mountaineers will be playing for the Big 12 Conference Tournament championship for a third consecutive year, this time after a 66-63 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the semifinal round.
West Virginia led by eight points with just over six minutes remaining in the game, but a flurry of shots from the Red Raiders left the game tied at 56-56 just one minute later. The Mountaineers were able to hold off Texas Tech’s comeback, however, and a free throw from Daxter Miles Jr. iced the game.
Miles turned in another great performance, leading the Mountaineers with 22 points. Jevon Carter finished with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Sagaba Konate chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The Mountaineers will play the Kansas Jayhawks for the Big 12 Conference Tournament championship on Saturday. That game will tip off at 6:00PM ET and will be televised on ESPN.
