The West Virginia men’s basketball team has fallen down the AP Top 25 poll each week since reaching No. 2, but still remains ranked this week, coming in at No. 19. Now, the WVU must focus on a top-25 matchup against Oklahoma.
The Mountaineers (17-6, 6-4) travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to take on the No. 17 Sooners (16-6, 6-3) in a Big Monday matchup tonight at 9 p.m. Both teams need a win in this game to keep any Big 12 title hopes alive, as Kansas and Texas Tech sit atop the standings with 7-3 records in the conference.
Again, the Big 12 placed four teams in the top 25, but Texas Tech (19-4, 7-3) is the highest-ranked team in the conference at No. 7. After another home loss, Kansas drops to No. 10 in the rankings. Texas received votes in the poll as week.
WVU will host Oklahoma State on Saturday, Feb. 10 at noon. The Cowboys (14-9, 4-6) have struggled in conference play, but knocked off Kansas on the road this past Saturday.
Bob Huggins’ team is 2-3 this year against ranked opponents this season.
