Shuler played in twelve games, starting in ten of them, as a redshirt Sophomore during the 2017 football season. He finished with 37 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks and one fumble recovery. Shuler lost the starting job to Ezekiel Rose in the Mountaineers’ final three games of the season,
According to Chris Anderson of EerSports.com, Shuler plans to pursue a career in track & field at another school.
Shuler’s departure deals a fairly significant blow to the Mountaineers’ defensive line depth, and his absence may be felt throughout the 2018 season.
