The West Virginia men’s basketball team experienced the highs and lows of Big 12 basketball last week, defeating a ranked team on the road, then losing at home to an unranked opponent. Now, the Mountaineers (18-7, 7-5) will play the week ahead as the No. 20 team in the AP Top 25 Poll.
WVU is one of four Big 12 teams in the poll, with Texas Tech (No. 7), Kansas (No. 13) and Oklahoma (No. 23) also ranked. KU and OU fell in the poll as well while TCU received votes yet remains unranked.
This is the 50th week in a row Bob Huggins has put the Mountaineers in the poll, which is the fourth-best active streak in the country.
The Mountaineers will take on the Horned Frogs at home on Monday Feb. 12 and travel to Allen Fieldhouse for a matchup against the Jayhawks on Saturday, Feb. 17. The question becomes, can WVU afford to lose a game this week and still remain in the top 25?
