- West Virginia and Rider will meet for the fourth time in history, but for the first time since 1978. The last meeting took place on Nov. 25, 1978, an 88-66 WVU win at the Coliseum.
- Konate was named to the preseason Naismith Watch List, the preseason John R. Wooden Watch List and to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year 20-Man Watch List. Konate was also named to the Lute Olson National Player of the Year Watch List. For his performance in Myrtle Beach, Konate was named to the Myrtle Beach Invitational All-Tournament Team
- Sagaba Konate posted 116 blocks last season, second most in a season in school history. He had 53 his entire freshman season. He needs 11 blocks to break the WVU school record set by D’or Fischer.
- VegasInsider.com currently lists West Virginia as a 12.5 point favorite over the Broncs, with the over/under set at 160 total points.
