Week 12 Watch List

As a chill fills the air, conference title races heat up

Most conferences are really in the thick of conference title chases. Division winners can be crowned and slots in each conference title game can be booked this weekend. Here’s the Week 12 Watch List.

Noon:

Pittsburgh @ Wake Forest, 12:00 PM, ACCN/WatchESPN

The Panthers (6-4) are leading the ACC Coastal division with a marginally acceptable overall record, but are 5-1 in the conference. The Demon Deacons (5-5) are an offensively gifted team that could mess things up in the Coastal with a win at home. Drink each time the broadcast crew mentions Clemson.

TCU @ Baylor, 12:00 PM, FS1

The Horned Frogs (4-6) have been disappointing this season while the Bears (5-5) have shown signs of being decent throughout the year. Both teams need this win for bowl eligibility, but TCU needs it worse. Drink for every rushing touchdown.

Afternoon:

No. 12 Syracuse @ No. 3 Notre Dame, 2:30 PM, NBC

This will be a great power hour before the WVU game. The Fighting Irish (10-0) have a legitimate shot at making the College Football Playoff if they finish the season undefeated. The Orange (8-2) could ruin all of that on Saturday in South Bend. Finish your drink for every turnover in the game.

Primetime:

No. 16 Iowa State @ No. 15 Texas, 8:00 PM, Longhorn Network

It’s fitting that literally the most important game of the season for the Longhorns (7-3) will be broadcast on their network no one really gets. OK. Cool. Hook Em! Can the Cyclones (6-3) creep their way into the Big 12 title game? Drink for each time someone flashes horns up.

No. 24 Cincinnati @ No. 11 UCF, 8:00 PM, ABC

It’s on TV, so why not watch it? The Knights (9-0) lead the American East, but the Bearcats (9-1) can take control of that division with a win in Orlando. Drink each time someone says that UCF cannot make the CFP.

After Dark:

Arizona @ No. 8 Washington State, 10:30 PM, ESPN

As with last week, any Big 12 team needs the Cougars (9-1) to slip up to give us a clearer path to the CFP. That doesn’t mean it will happen against the Wildcats (5-5), but it would help. Drink for each mention of the weather difference between Tempe and Pullman.

Arizona State @ Oregon, 10:30 PM, PAC 12 Network

Pac-12 After Dark may be at its peak with the Sun Devils (6-4) and the Ducks (6-4) squaring off in Eugene. Both teams have secured bowl eligibility but, crazily enough, ASU has a weird chance to make the Pac-12 Championship Game. Drink at each sight of Herm Edwards.

As most conferences are whittling down their title contenders, there is sure to be some desperation in the air this Saturday. So grab a beer and enjoy the indoors on a cold Saturday of college football.
