The West Virginia Mountaineers will look to possibly clinch a spot in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game when they head to Stillwater, Oklahoma to play the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the last regular season road game of the 2018 season. West Virginia will don a completely new uniform combination, combining the white helmets and white jerseys of road teams with the traditional old gold pants worn by the Mountaineers.
This combination will be bright and maybe, just maybe, it will blind Oklahoma State defenders when Will Grier is throwing the ball, as he looks to keep his recent hot streak going. Grier has thrown for at least 300 yards and three touchdowns in every game that the Mountaineers have won.
On the other side of the ball, David Long is beginning to be recognized by national outlets of just how good he is. Long is a tackles for loss machine, recording a TFL in every game he has played this season and in 17 straight games dating back to last season.
The Mountaineers will look to break a 3-game losing streak to Oklahoma State that started with a 33-26 overtime loss in 2015 during “Deathtober”. West Virginia is 1-2 in Stillwater, with their only win coming in 2014 where they debuted another uniform combination first: The Appalachian Tiger uniform. The Mountaineers jumped all over the Cowboys in that game, as Clint Trickett threw for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns and current Philadelphia Eagle Wendell Smallwood ran for 132 yards.
