Jevon Carter Continues To Shine with Memphis

Despite not playing in the NBA, the former Mountaineer has shown his defensive chops in the G-League

Jevon Carter is taking all of his work in stride, being promoted and demoted from the Memphis Grizzlies daily. Carter works on his shots with the Griz before heading back to the Hustle, Memphis’ G-League team, to play that night. All of that hard work is beginning to pay off.

Carter stepped up big time for the Hustle this week. Averaging over 20 points per game, to go along with 4 steals per contest is a great stat line for a player who has now played a total of 5 games in the G-League. With an NBA contract already in his pocket, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Grizzlies decided Jevon is too good for the G-League and let him get more time with the big league squad. Jevon was able to work on his facilitating more this week, which is a key focus on the Grizzlies developmental staff. His veteran-like presence has also played a huge role in the Hustle’s success at home this early in the season.

The Hustle scored at least 110 points in all three games this week, with Carter registering 65 points and 12 steals in three games. Carter increased his steals each game, taking three in the first game, four in the second and five in the third game this week.

His five steals to end the week aren’t even his most. Carter had six steals against Sioux City earlier.

Don’t be surprised if you see Carter in the NBA by the end of the year.
