The West Virginia Mountaineers are now sixth in the latest coaches poll. Mountaineer quarterback Will Grier turned the ball over four times, including three times in the redzone but the Mountaineers never trailed and the game was never in doubt. The win came at the right time as multiple Top 25 teams including #5 LSU Tigers, #7 Oklahoma Sooners and #8 Auburn Tigers all lost, allowing the Mountaineers to move up in the polls.

The Alabama Crimson Tide remain the #1 team in the land followed by Georgia, Ohio State and then Clemson. While these aren’t the playoff rankings, most pundits have either those four or #5 Notre Dame as the playoff participants. Entering the top ten are the UCF Knights.

West Virginia ends up 6th in both polls moving up three spots in the AP. The Texas Longhorns jump to number 9 and the Oklahoma Sooners fall to number 11. Those three teams are the only ranked Big 12 teams.
