The seventh Riot Bowl game on Saturday, Oct. 13, between West Virginia and Iowa State has been slated to kickoff at 7 p.m. EDT and broadcast from Ames, Iowa, on FS1. This is will be the first night game for WVU and the first time the Mountaineers will feature on a FOX network this season.
The Mountaineers (4-0, 2-0) are 5-1 all-time against the Cyclones (1-3, 0-2), including a four game streak. When these teams met in Ames in 2016, WVU came away with a 49-14 victory, the largest margin of victory by either team in the series. Last year, WVU held off a resilient Iowa State team with a 20-16 win in Morgantown.
The “Riot Bowl” name came out of the two school’s noted ability to tailgate and their respected rankings as top party schools. While both universities boast strong academics in natural sciences, agriculture and business. The name comes from our friends at Wide Right & Natty Lite, and the gas can trophy followed after.
You can prepare for the game with this “Defend the Can” T-shirt from 1863 Dry Goods.
