ESPN College Gameday Returns To The West Virginia Coliseum

Welcome back ESPN, it’s been a while.

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

For the second time in program history, ESPN’s College Gameday will be on hand in Morgantown. The first time Gameday visited the West Virginia Mountaineers campus was back in 2009 when they faced off against Rick Pitino and the No. 6 Louisville Cardinals.

This time the Mountaineers will face off against the No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky head coach John Calipari and Bob Huggins have long shared a special bond. When Huggins suffered a heart attack in 2002, Calipari was the first non-family member to reach out to Huggins. The two have remained close throughout the years, routinely rooting for each other during the NCAA Tournament.

ESPN College Gameday will host a morning show live from the Coliseum starting at 11 AM Eastern,. They will then air an evening edition of Gameday leading into the West Virginia-Kentucky showdown.

The Mountaineers and Wildcats are playing as part of the Big XII-SEC Challenge. The annual Big 12/SEC Challenge, pits 10 members of the Southeastern Conference against all 10 of the Big 12 members. Six Big 12 teams are ranked entering Saturday’s contests. Kentucky is the only SEC ranked.

Gameday is hosted by Rece Davis, who is joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams. Dan Shulman, Bilas and reporter Maria Taylor will have the call of the Big 12/SEC matchup featuring Kentucky and West Virginia.
