As expected, the West Virginia Mountaineers are unranked following their loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Mountaineers garnered 70 votes total, which puts them at 28th in the rankings.

The Texas Longhorns, following their embarrassing loss to the Maryland Terrapins in Tom Herman’s debut, dropped out of the rankings. To add insult to injury, sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele was injured in the game and is going to miss some time.

The Alabama Crimson Tide remain number one and outside of one voter, are the clear number one team in the land.

Meanwhile, in the coaches poll, Clemson actually gained three first place votes. Florida and Florida State both tumbled hard. Florida remains ranked in both polls despite fielding a junior varsity level offense. The living version of Steve Spurrier has to be rolling in his golf cart watching the ineptitude that is the Florida offense.
