We’ve finally made it; the moment every West Virginia fan has waited twelve long years for. Tonight, our Mountaineers march into the confines of FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland to go toe-to-toe with the imitators from Least Virginia. The Virginia Tech Hokies come into this game with an air of arrogance and false superiority, while the Mountaineers will enter with something to prove. All summer long, we’ve seen prediction after prediction go in favor of the Hokies. Tonight, we prove them wrong.
It’s time.

Game Notes
- West Virginia leads the all-time series with a 28-22-1 record. The Mountaineers last played the Hokies in 2005, and suffered their only loss of the season on the way to beating Georgia in the Nokia Sugar Bowl.
- Sunday will mark the West Virginia debut of former Florida Gators quarterback Will Grier. Grier completed 105-of-160 passes (65.6%) for 1202 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games as a Gator. He’ll look to pick up where he left off, under new West Virginia offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Jake Spavital.
- Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound senior had 18.5 tackles for loss, including 4.5 sacks, last season. Edmunds will be the heart of Bud Foster’s vaunted defense.
- VegasInsider.com has Virginia Tech as the favorite at -5 with the over set at 52 total points.
