West Virginia Thread Alert: Rock Chalk Mountaineer

The Mountaineers will wear a combination that has been their go-to for away games recently, but they have only won one game while wearing this combination.

During the week, when I was getting ready for this article, I figured this would be the uniform combination. It has been the go-to for the Mountaineers in the last few years. Amazingly, according to my records at least, the Mountaineers have only won one game wearing this combination; the 2014 Cactus Bowl against Arizona State.

As far as away jersey combinations go, this is a pretty clean look for West Virginia. The blue helmet and pants pair nicely with the white jersey, providing a clean, contrasting look, one that is definitely “WVU”.

Saturday’s game will mark the first true road game for the Mountaineers, though it won’t be the first time the stadium the Mountaineers play in will be for the other team. Despite being a neutral-site game, FedEx Field was definitely for the Hokies and against the Mountaineers.
