After throwing for 352 yards and five touchdowns against East Carolina, West Virginia Mountaineer quarterback Will Grier has been named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. He earns the award over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Facebook contest.
Grier, who has earned back to back Big 12 Newcomer of the Week awards, lit up the East Carolina secondary in the first half. He completed 16 of 22 passes for 329 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The West Virginia signal caller ranks first in the Big 12 in passing yards (723), touchdowns (8) and total offense per game (390.5).
In its first 13 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. Previous winners include: Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russel, Deshaun Watson, Matt Ryan, Colt McKoy and Vince Young.
The 10 finalists for the Manning award will be announced on Thursday, November 30 and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
